Janice Blees
Janice was born in Melbourne and spent her early years in the Dandenong Ranges before coming to the Mornington Peninsula and now lives in Langwarrin.
She studied Art and Design at Swinburne College and gained a Diploma of Art but family commitments prevented much activity for many years.
She began painting about 10 years ago with acrylics and more recently in watercolour and is mostly self-taught but has attended some classes in watercolour painting which she finds most stimulating and this medium is a now a dominant feature in her current works.
She has had the opportunity to travel locally and overseas with painting groups thus the interest in European subjects: mainly Italy and France where the soft colours of old buildings, archways and cobbled streets have provided the inspiration and appeal of plein-air painting.
She is currently a member of McClelland Guild of Artists, Mentone-Mordialloc Art Group, Two Bays Art and also a past member of Peninsula Arts Society and has successfully exhibited and sold works in all areas.
